HOW TO MEASURE
MTT has a particular way to measure your dog, which we believe is the best way to get a good fit; At the same time, some places may suggest differently, when we refer to measuring, this is the only method MTT use as it has been changed and improved by experience over the last two years.
If your dog is a bite risk we DO NOT RECOMMEND MEASURING.
Please DO NOT use your hands to open your dog's mouth. You should not measure if you have to force any more than a comfortable level. Take pictures if you can, this will make it much easier to confirm measurements and size.
'Sizing A Muzzle' also goes along with these sections, if you find yourself confused you may need to read of sizing a muzzle first.
MEASURING LENGTH
Your dogs' exact nose length.
Length is measured 0.25-0.5" down from the eyes to the tip of the nose. It is an exact measurement and you do not add any amounts on until actually sizing- unless the measurement you took was too long/short.

MEASURING WIDTH
Measured straight across your dogs' snout.
Width is measured just down from the eyes and straight across the snout at the widest part. The tape measure should remain straight and you should look from above to get the correct measurement.

MEASURING CLOSED HEIGHT
Your dogs' snout height with a closed mouth.
Length is measured just down from the eyes and straight across the snout at the widest part. The tape measure should remain straight and you should look from above to get the correct measurement.

MEASURING OPEN HEIGHT
Your dogs' full pant usually after exercise/stress.
The definition of full pant/open height can get a bit confusing but basically, open height is the approximate version of a full pant height by measuring a pant or using a ball.

MEASURING CLOSED CIRCUM.
Taken snugly around the dogs' closed snout with a soft tape or string.
The closed circumference is a fairly easy measurement to get as you don't have to keep them too still for long.

MEASURING OPEN CIRCUM.
The measurement is taken with a soft tape measure around the mouth/snout at full pant. This is a harder measurement to get and isn't as needed when sizing a muzzle, especially if you have open height, as that measurement is more useful anyway.
